Heat guns provide a heat that is higher than curing temperature so use them at a distance from your clay.   However they can provide a ‘quick set’ of your uncured clay whilst you are working on delicate pieces.

Of course they can be used to set embossing powder.  But they are also ideal for putting a liquid clay coating on your clay. And there are many other uses.
